Applied tags on events: To associate all the events with tags that are configured in rule. These tags are further used in different applications as per their needs.
Example: Business.
If any rule is associated with a Business tag then all the alerts generated with this rule will have the business tags associated with it. If any application needs to view only the business alerts then they are able to filter Business alerts among all.
