Pattern-Matching refers to accessing the level of correlation among metrics based on the threshold value. The purpose of pattern matching is to identify metrics that shares the similar pattern. The similar pattern relies on the threshold value, which can be either higher or lower than the average value but still exhibits some variation. To apply the pattern matching first you have to select a metric, which will be considered as a baseline metric for the pattern matching. For Example: If the Average CPU Utilization (PCT) is running 50%, and it suddenly spikes upto 90%, then it will calculate the deflection of the metric which is 90%.

Note: Pattern matching will calculate the deflection of the baseline metric which you have chosen.

Metric Information: It shows the baseline metric present on the panel, with which pattern- matching has to be done.

• Threshold: The threshold is the percentage value for recalculating the deflection i.e.: If the deflection in the base metric is 70% and you want to find those metrics which have 50% deflection of this, then it will find those metrics which are having 35% deflection from their average value.

  Note: The default percentage value of the threshold is 80, and it can be maximized till 100.

• Inverse Pattern Matching: This option is used for finding the deflection on both the sides or on one side. On selecting the Inverse Pattern Matching checkbox, it will search the deflection for both the sides and if this checkbox is not selected, then it will search only one same side deflection in which direction deflection was there in the base metrics.
• Select Category: Within the chosen category, you can make a selection from the provided drop-down options which are listed below:
  • All Metrics: You can select all groups and correspond to that metric accordingly. In this metric, you can Skip Graph Type for either Cumulative or Response Time Graph.
  • Select Metric Catalogue: You can select a list of previously saved catalogues. By selecting this option, you can create group of graphs and save them as a catalog. The default selection should be the metric catalog. Upon selecting, you have to click on the View View button which will navigate you to the Catalogue Management window where you need to select the metric on which you want to apply. You can either select All or

  Note: In case you select Specified, you can select metrics for Advanced and Specified. In case of advanced, you have to select the Tier, Server and Tag Name and click on the Test Test button. Once you have test, then click on the Apply Apply button to apply the configuration.

  • Select Metric: When you select this, it will enable the second area where you can select a specific group that corresponds to the chosen metric. To apply, select the metric you want to choose and then click on Add If you want to remove the selected metric name in the right text field area, then you have to click on the Remove  button. If the selected metric is not a vector type, then the selected metric should directly be added on click of it.
  • Auto Select Casual Metric: On selecting this option, it will display all the causal and affected metrics based on the pattern matching threshold value.

Notes:

• Once you have set all the parameters for the pattern match, then you have to click on the Match Pattern Match Pattern button to apply the pattern matching.
• To close the pattern matching window, you have to click on the Close Close
• To delete the created catalogue, click on the Delete Delete Once you click a confirmation dialogbox will appear, click on Ok Ok button to delete the catalogue. To close the window, click on Cancel Cancel button.
• To edit the selected metric in the pattern matching window, click on the Edit Edit button.
• You can also save the pattern matching as a catalog by clicking on the Save As Catalog Save as Catalog On clicking the save as catalog button, the Save Catalog dialogbox will appear where you have to provide the Catalog Name and Catalog Description.
• Once you have provided the catalog name and description, you have to click on Save Catalog Save Catalog button to save the catalog.
