Connection Stats

Connection stats are crucial for database administrators and system operators to monitor the health and performance of SQL Server instances, diagnose issues, optimize resource usage In connection stats window, you can see the following details related to the database which are listed below:

• Action: In action, you can perform drill-down operation for each and every row by clicking on the icon. By performing this action, you can navigate to the respective child processes of a particular session.
• Timestamp: This refers to a data element that records the date and time when a specific event or SQL query occurred within a database management system (DBMS). You can see the date and time in the following format MM/DD/YY and HH:MM:SS.
• DB Name: This refers to a unique and a user-defined name that identifies a specific database within a database management system. It is used for distinguishing one database from another within a database management system (DBMS).
• Last Wait Type: This refer to the type of wait event that a particular database connection was experiencing at the time the connection statistics were last collected. Wait events occur when a SQL Server process has to wait for a specific resource or condition to become available before it can proceed with its operation.
• Wait Time (ms): This refers to the amount of time that a particular database connection has spent waiting for a specific event or resource to become available
• CPU (ms): This refers to data related to the central processing unit (CPU) utilization associated with a specific database connection. CPU utilization metrics help database administrators and developers monitor and optimize the performance of SQL Server instances
• Physical IO (ms): This refer to the measurement of physical Input/Output (I/O) operations performed by a specific database connection. Physical I/O operations involve reading data from or writing data to the physical storage devices
• Login Time: This refers to the time it takes for a user or application to complete the process of establishing a connection to the SQL Server database. It measures the duration between the initiation of the connection request and the successful establishment of the connection.
• Last Batch Time: This refers to the amount of time it took for the most recent batch of SQL queries or commands executed by a specific database connection to complete its execution. it measures the duration between the start and finish of the last batch of commands processed by the connection.
• Status: This refers to the current state or condition of a specific database connection. This metric provides information about whether the connection is currently active , sleeping , suspended.
• Host Name: This refers to the name of the device from which a specific database connection originates. The host name provides information about the client machine or application that is connecting to the SQL Server instance.
• SQL Handle: This refer to the SQL Server engine uses to track and manage the execution of SQL statements or queries. SQL Handles are primarily associated with query plans and are used to optimize query execution and facilitate plan reuse.

Active Connections: You can also see the Active Connection in the graphical representation of the number of active database connections to the SQL Server instance over a period of time

• There are following color codes for Active Connections which are listed below: QA , DWQueue , Rag , Testing , Master ,Model etc. and color code next page view click 1/2 Icon .

Notes: You can perform the following actions in the Connection Stats window which are listed below:

• Search: You can perform search operation in the table by providing the name, value, value in use etc in the Search in table column icon.
• Download : On clicking this icon, it will download the SQL Configuration report in the CSV file format in your local.
• Toggle Columns : On clicking this icon, you will be able to show or hide a column from the SQL Configuration report window.
• Toggle Filter : On clicking this icon, you can apply search operation on columns in the SQL Configuration report window.
• You can also see the applied time filter on the right side of the window.
• You can also show/hide the database table report by clicking on the Show/Hide icon.
