The Kubernetes Cluster Configuration screen allows users to add and manage Kubernetes clusters for monitoring. Users can provide the cluster name, configure advanced monitoring options, and add the cluster to the list. Once added, the cluster appears in the table for easy management through edit and delete actions.

Cluster Configuration

• Cluster Name: Enter a descriptive name for the Kubernetes cluster. This name is used across the monitoring system and helps uniquely identify the cluster under which you will be able to view all the metrics that will be configured.

Advanced Settings

• Cavisson agent is deployed inside the cluster as daemonset: Enable this option when the Cavisson monitoring agent is already deployed inside the Kubernetes cluster as a DaemonSet. When enabled, internal agent-based metric collection is used
• Enable Kubernetes chaos experiments for this cluster: Enable this option to allow the execution of Kubernetes chaos experiments on the selected cluster. This setting is used when you want to conduct chaos experiments on your Kubernetes cluster like resource contentions across CPU, memory, I/O, network related chaos experiments among others.
  • Kubernetes API Server: Enter the hostname or IP address of the Kubernetes API server. This is the primary endpoint through which the controller communicates with the cluster for fetching metrics and configurations.
  • Kubernetes API Port: Specify the port number used by the Kubernetes API server. By default, Kubernetes API commonly runs on port 6443, but it may vary based on your setup.
  • Authentication Method: Select the authentication mechanism required to access the Kubernetes API server. The system supports the following methods:
    • OpenID Connect Token: Use this option when authentication is configured through an OpenID Connect (OIDC) provider. Provide the OIDC token to allow secure access to the Kubernetes API. Click this Link to get OpenID Connect Token:
    • Service Account Token: Select this method when using a Kubernetes Service Account for authentication. Enter the service account token with the required permissions to collect cluster metrics. Click this Link to get Service Account Token
    • Upload File: Use this option to upload a kubeconfig file for authentication. The uploaded configuration contains the necessary certificates, credentials, and context required to access the cluster depending upon the authentication method chosen in the previous step.
  • Kubernetes API server is accessible through proxy only: Enable this option if the Kubernetes API server can be accessed exclusively through a proxy server. When turned on, all API communication will be routed via the configured proxy.
• Add: Click Add to save the configuration and insert the cluster into the table.

Cluster Configuration Table

The table displays all configured clusters along with their name, API server endpoint, and monitoring status. The Actions column provides options to edit or delete an existing configuration.

• Serial Number: Displays the index number of each cluster entry.
• Cluster Name: Shows the name of the configured Kubernetes cluster.
• Kubernetes API Server: Displays the API server hostname or address configured for the cluster.
• Disable Monitoring: Indicates whether monitoring is enabled or disabled for the cluster.
• Actions: Provides options to edit or delete the cluster configuration.

Global Action Icons

• Column Filter: Allows filtering table records based on specific column values.
• Manage Column: Allows showing or hiding selected table columns to customize the view.
