A Hero Element is an important part of a page (such as a main banner, key image, title, or primary content area) that indicates the page has fully loaded and is ready for the user. Think of it as the main content of the page — once this appears, the page is considered visually complete.

The Hero Element helps the system measure Visual Complete Time, which means how long it takes for the main content of a page to appear.

How it works in different test types

Browser Tests

• If a Hero Element is provided: The page is marked visually complete when that element appears.
• If no Hero Element is provided: The system automatically checks for page changes and waits until the page stops updating. Once there are no more visible changes, it marks the page as visually complete.

Real Device Tests

• The Hero Element is required to calculate visual complete time.
• If no Hero Element is provided: Visual complete time will not be calculated for that page.
• If a Hero Element is provided but not found within the allowed time:The page will be marked as failed.
